[Everyone needed to unwind sometimes, and Asbel was no different. Leaving a note behind at the house saying that he and ledbythewind were "going out tonight", the duo set off to the bar. Because what better way to unwind than by knocking back a drink? ~~Or ten?~~ It was the perfect way to relax, after everything's that's been happening in Luceti recently.

So, that evening, the duo took position in Good Spirits, everyone's favorite bar. Their modus operandi? To drink, of course, and that is why they're seated at one of the tables in the front of the bar, with two glasses, one each in front of them. ...And also a bottle of Snake Wine for consumption. Doesn't it just look charming?

...It was Richard's idea, okay? It's what happens when you've had a few drinks already.]

((ooc: Okay so this post has a unique element. It'll progress in chronological order, meaning the second thread happens after the first, the third after the second, etc. BUT IN ADDITION, in each thread that gets started, Asbel and Richard will slowly and progressively become more intoxicated as they consume more of this alcohol. Or maybe not so slowly, since they've already knocked back a few. Come in late enough, and we may very have a drunk duo on our hands!))

[That's totally not a Cheshire Cat smile on Richard's face right now as he peers at Hubert. Nope, not at all.]

[He stares at the shot of tequila. This is supposed to be a "casual" drink, why is he being watched like this? He fingers the drink, raised a mere two or three inches from the counter's surface as he stares longer.

This has gotten uncomfortable very quickly.]

[Well, are you going to do it or not, Hubert? Come on, Asbel's staring expectantly now too.]

[Thinking Hubert doesn't know how to drink it, Richard decides to offer some advice.]

Just drink it all at once; don't sip it unless you like strong drinks.

[His discomfort has reached a critical level. Deciding to just "screw this," Hubert raises the shot and, as per Richard's advice, drinks the tequila all at once. Or tries to. He chokes on it (and freezes awkwardly for a second), but forces the rest of the drink down before he lowers the shot glass onto the counter.

It burns. He coughs twice and blinks, propping an elbow on the counter and resting a balled hand against his lips to keep his mouth shut and contain the choking. This really didn't go as planned.]

Ah! Hubert, are you alright? [Big brother is now standing up, prepared to run to the other side of the table.]

[Richard also has his hand to his mouth, but it's more to stifle his laughter than anything else. Sorry Hubert, he is indeed giggling a little bit at you.]

I did warn you that it was strong.

[He stops mid-cough (very abruptly) the moment he realizes Asbel is up and out of his seat. No, sit back down.]

Yes.

[Clearing his throat and straightening, now. Richard, kindly stop laughing.]

I'm fine.

[Richard, why are you laughing.]

Ah... Well, if you say so. [He doesn't sit down yet, though. ...Mostly because he hasn't realized he's standing.]

So, what did you think, Hubert? Was that your very first drink?

[Your reaction kind of gave it away there, man.]

[Wow, Brother, slow.]

It was stronger than I'd anticipated.

[And kind of bad. He's not drinking it again if he can help it. The fact that he doesn't respond to Richard's question should be telling of the answer.]

Really? [He thinks it was kind of weak, to be honest, but...] Maybe we should get you something sweeter, then.

[Sweeter, hmm? Let's see, what would be good...]

He could always try some Chambord or Midori.

[Are they seriously contemplating something else to give him -- ]

Just one drink.

[That was the deal. Right? This was bad enough.]

Well... That's true, but... You didn't seem like you enjoyed it.

That's exactly why he needs another.

[Judgment? What judgment? Richard had judgment?]

T-that was never a part of the agreement!

That's right, but... It doesn't really do to not enjoy your drink.

We'll just keep trying until we find something you like.

[Best. Logic. Ever.]

[Pushy and unyielding. Not good.]

Isn't it better to let this be rather than to keep it up?

[Because the "keep trying until so and so" plan is kind of a weak one.]

[Okay, okay. Asbel can see reason. ...Mostly because he hasn't had enough to drink yet. After all, he was trying to help Hubert leave earlier.]

...Yeah.

[You both are no fun, party poopers.]

[Just have a party in your head or something, Richard. It's rather sad when Asbel has to be the supporting voice of reason between the three of them.

Hubert looks to Asbel, then Richard. Can he go now?]

Well... We can't force Hubert to enjoy himself here. [Is there a vaguely implied "Hubert doesn't know how to enjoy himself" there? Who knows.]

I suppose you're right. In that case, we'll be home later. You don't need to stay up just for us.
