[Today, in the plaza, you'll see a certain New Feather at the fountain. It's clear he's a New Feather, easily distinguishable by the light cotton pants he's wearing and the bewildered expression on his face.

Of course, he hasn't yet accepted his situation yet. It's rather hard to, when you find yourself in a place completely different from the one you were in before, and without any of the people you know in sight. So, of course, the logical thing to do would be to believe you're still dreaming.

That's exactly what Asbel believes, as he briefly dunks his head in the fountain, fully submerging it, before pulling it out and shaking the water off.]

...I guess... it's not a dream, huh...

[He glances around briefly nearby, perhaps coming out of one of the shops, or during the corner to enter the plaza themselves, or whatever. He, deciding he should probably get some answers about just what's going on, starts running towards them.]

I'm afraid it probably won't make much more sense even with an explanation. I can show you a guide which may make things at least somewhat clearer, however. It was written as a way to provide an introduction of sorts to Luceti for new residents, so it should be easy enough to understand.

Naoki, welcome home. This is Asbel Lhant, the friend I've told you about-- he just arrived in Luceti this afternoon.

...You have the worst timing ever, Naoki. Have a shocked (and slightly embarrassed) Asbel staring at you, only halfway into changing into those pants.]

[BUT on the outside, he just shifts sheepishly and turns his head to the side so he's not looking over, folding his arms over his chest. Please to be getting dressed now.

I told him he could borrow some of my clothing, since he somehow managed to get his own soaking wet.

[Turning back to Asbel now.]

By the way, just how did that happen? Don't tell me you landed in the lake when you arrived.

...I-I see... [Y-yeah. Blushing quite profusely now, he finishes getting dressed now, and quite hurriedly.]

[Alright, clothed and warm! This is good! Very good.

He shakes his head.]

No... Nothing like that. When I arrived, I thought this might be a dream, so I... ...I decided to dunk my head in the fountain.

[Sorry, Richard, he's still kind of thinking it's what it looked like. But since he's acting normal--fffff. He's not happy, but thank you, Ted, for helping him refine the art of a poker face.]

You--it's cold out, y'know. Sit tight, I'll make some tea or something.

[There--that'll give him a few minutes to sort his thoughts. ...Isamu, where are youuuu. ;;]

In the fountain? I suppose that's one way of testing whether or not you're dreaming, but when it's this cold outside, you might have been better off pinching yourself instead.

[Oh Asbel, you really haven't changed at all in seven years. He meant it when he said that he could tell it was you right away even after all that time.

Then, to Naoki:]

Yes, that's a good idea. Do you know where Sir Isamu is?

[He's not reading your mind or anything, he just wants to introduce his other friend to Asbel too.]

[He nods to Naoki.] Thank you. I'd appreciate that.

[And then he turns his attention back to Richard.] Yeah, it... wasn't one of my more well-thought out ideas, but it made sense at the time.

I'm not sure. He should be home sooner or later--in time to eat, at least.

[Asbel gets a light nod back before Naoki wanders his way out to the kitchen to get some tea put together.]

[Oh Asbel, just chuckling a little bit at you now.]

You wouldn't mind if Asbel stayed for dinner, would you?

I couldn't possibly expect you to do that too. I've already asked so much of you two just on the first day.

[Pausing to glance back where he's putting the kettle on.]

Don't worry about something like that. It's not hard for me to make a little extra food. Besides, you're Richard's friend, so you're welcome here.

I owe you a great deal, Asbel. Letting you stay here to eat is the very least I can do to repay you for it.

Well... If you both insist...

Yeah. [Once the water's boiled, he'll be carrying a tray with tea and cream and sugar out, setting it on the table and nodding for him to help himself before taking a cup for himself.]

[Yay, everyone is getting along so well!

... or so he thinks, at least. He'll reach out to motion for Naoki to come sit next to him on the couch.]

Naoki was one of the first people I met when I arrived here-- I owe a great deal to him as well.

[He extends a hand to Naoki.]

Thanks for taking care of Richard, then. He's my closest friend, so I'm glad he's found other people he can trust in.

[As he moves to sit next to Richard he pauses, glancing to the side sheepishly as he plunks down.]

You don't need to thank me. He's important to me too, after all. [He does lean forward to take that hand, though.]

Yes, Naoki and I are very close.

[And he moves one hand to rest it on Naoki's knee. Please get this implication, Asbel, he really doesn't want to have to spell it out for you.]
