[He almost didn't want to believe it at first. That she was gone. He noticed she was missing several days ago, but he didn't say anything at first. It was kept secret between he, Richard, and Isamu. Why? Who knows. Denial, maybe? Stubbornness? Or maybe he just wanted to believe that she'd be back...

It wasn't that he was upset over her departure, per se. He was glad his oldest companion was able to return to Ephinea. He was happy for all of them to get that chance. ...But it hurt every time. They were his friends, every one of them, and he had the chance to spend time with them is a way he'd never have back home. And this time... it hurt even more. He had a special bond with her, a relationship. Something he probably wouldn't have even conceived of back home. And now it's gone.

He knows he couldn't keep quiet about it. He's sure she's made friends here, just like he has. It'd only be right to say something.

If any of you knew her... It looks like Cheria Barnes has gone home. She'll be missed.

[There's a sigh.] ...Does anybody knows what happens when people leave Luceti? I mean, they're actually going home, right? [And not to something far worse.]

...Does anybody get the feeling that this place is listening to us? Or at least is trying to make us look dumb?

[And unbeknownst to Asbel, Cheria has just returned to the village. She was indeed sent home, for over six months, but she has no idea how much time has passed in Luceti. The first thing she decided to do when she arrived in the village was to make her way back towards their old house. She needed to know if Asbel and the others were still here. She could just use the journal for that, yes, but... She needs to see Asbel and Richard face to face.

Still, when she reaches the front door, she realizes that she doesn't have her key anymore. Of course she doesn't- all she has on her is that tacky New Feather dress and her journal. Hm... She'll just have to knock, then.]

They do go home. Everything the guide says about people going home is quite accurate indeed.

If Luceti is tryin' ta make us look dumb then it's been doing one hell of a good job at it so far.

[Richard hears that announcement over the journals-- after how many people have disappeared in the past several days, he's got it with him at all times out of paranoia. Some things haven't changed at all, it seems.

He's all the way to the living room before he hesitates, uncertain as to whether or not he should call out to his friend. What sort of comfort can he really offer? There's a tiny voice in the back of his mind reminding him that he was the one who had been so insistent on finally getting the two of them together... but that had to mean that her departure now was even more painful for Asbel than it would have been had things between them stayed platonic.

But there's something more important than his own selfish concerns right now, and that's Asbel. That's why he's standing here in the first place. So with a deep breath, he pastes a smile on his face, trying to keep his voice as light as possible.]

Yep. All the time. I'd like to say you get used to it, but then it just comes up with new ways of making you look like an idiot.
