[Today, in the plaza, you'll see a certain New Feather at the fountain. It's clear he's a New Feather, easily distinguishable by the light cotton pants he's wearing and the bewildered expression on his face.

Of course, he hasn't yet accepted his situation yet. It's rather hard to, when you find yourself in a place completely different from the one you were in before, and without any of the people you know in sight. So, of course, the logical thing to do would be to believe you're still dreaming.

That's exactly what Asbel believes, as he briefly dunks his head in the fountain, fully submerging it, before pulling it out and shaking the water off.]

...I guess... it's not a dream, huh...

[He glances around briefly nearby, perhaps coming out of one of the shops, or during the corner to enter the plaza themselves, or whatever. He, deciding he should probably get some answers about just what's going on, starts running towards them.]

Excuse me!

[Is this person you?]

You don't have to thank me, Richard. I promised that I would do anything I could to help you, remember? And besides... you weren't really yourself.

[How could he ever forget? And to think, he'd been afraid of Asbel betraying him, yet the other man had risked his own life to save him.

... he wouldn't have done this just a few months ago, but right now Asbel is going to find himself being pulled into a tight hug.]

Thank you. You really did come to save me after all.

[He's stunned into silence for a moment. Receiving a hug from Richard was not on his list of things to expect today. But he's not going to object. Richard's warm. It feels nice...]

...I said I would, didn't I? I don't know if I'd be able to live with myself if I couldn't follow through on that promise...

[He's about to respond to that when he realizes that Asbel is... dripping all over his shoulder.]

Asbel... you're soaking wet.

[And he may be laughing just a little, because ONLY ASBEL could somehow manage to show up in Luceti by landing in the lake or the river or whatever the heck had happened to him.]

[Asbel chuckles a little himself. How embarrassing...] Ahaha... Sorry about that, Richard. I didn't have anything to dry off with... [He sheepishly rubs the back of his neck. Oops.]

[Richard is already pulling away and unbuttoning his coat so that he can take it off and hand it to Asbel. It's a good thing he's slightly taller; he doesn't have to worry about whether it will fit or not.]

Why don't you come home with me and I'll lend you some dry clothes? You can warm up there as well.

[He takes the coat and puts it on. If he weren't so cold right now, he'd object to this act, saying Richard needs it more right now.

That second offer, however...]

A-are you, sure, Richard? I wouldn't want to impose on you...

I'm quite sure. I doubt Naoki and Sir Isamu would object to letting a friend of mine sit in front of the fire for a while. If anything, I suspect Naoki will probably try to feed you as well.

...Naoki and Sir Isamu? [Well, now you've got him curious, Richard.]

They're friends I've met here in this world-- I want you to meet them as well. The three of us have a house just a ways north of here.

[A lot more than friends in Naoki's case, but... let's let Asbel get settled in a little bit before he tells him that a) he's dating someone, and b) that someone is a guy.]

Your frie--...Ahh, that's great, Richard! I'm glad you're making friends here!

That's why I want you to meet them too. You're my oldest friend, and I'd like all of you to become friends as well. Though it might take some time with Sir Isamu...

He sounds like he might be like you when we first met, then...

Like me...? Yes, I suppose we are alike in some ways.

[Far more so than he really likes to admit, which is part of why he wants to help Isamu open up more as well.]

Well... [...] ...I trust you, Richard, so lead the way.

It's just a few minutes' walk-- here, this way.

[This time, it's his turn to offer Asbel a hand.]

[He nods, and takes Richard's offer. Aww yeah, goin' to Richard's house.]

[The house is probably a lot smaller than what Asbel is used to, but hey, it's nice and warm and there's a fire going in the fireplace. Asbel can just sit on the sofa in front of it while Richard gets him some clothes.]

You can warm up here while I get you a towel and some dry clothing. It doesn't seem like Naoki and Sir Isamu are at home right now; they may be out at the shops or training. I'll just introduce you to them when they return.

[Going upstairs now to get a towel from the storage room!]

[It was definitely smaller than what Asbel was used to, and he found himself wondering Richard, whose house was a castle, could live her comfortably at all.]

Right... Thanks, Richard. [He takes off the coat Richard had given him and hangs it on the coat rack. He then places himself on the floor near the fireplace.

...S-so warm...]

[Richard comes back downstairs in just a moment with a nice fluffy towel, then disappears into his room to grab a pair of slacks and a white button-up shirt before coming back out to the living room and handing the towel to Asbel with a smile.]

Here, dry yourself off first. You and I are almost the same size, so with any luck these pants will fit you as well, and if not, I don't think Naoki would mind if I borrowed a pair of his for the time being.

Thanks... [He takes the towel in hand and starts to rub it vigorously over his head.]

[Richard just stands and waits, holding the clothing in his arms.]

Has anyone explained this place to you yet?

[Finishing up drying off his head, he hands off the towel and takes the clothes.

...His hair is sticking up even more than usual now.]

...I've heard a few things... About a barrier, and these strange journals, and our captors... But it doesn't really make much sense.

[... Asbel that's kind of adorable, but Richard isn't going to comment on it.]

I'm afraid it probably won't make much more sense even with an explanation. I can show you a guide which may make things at least somewhat clearer, however. It was written as a way to provide an introduction of sorts to Luceti for new residents, so it should be easy enough to understand.

That'd be appreciated, Richard. Thanks. [Aww yiss, changing those pants now.]
